Boxelder Bug Control
How we treat for Boxelder Bugs:
With boxelder bugs, we can use control methods such as dust applications, targeted sprays, and repellents. Each property is unique in the way treatment is most effective and safe. Utilizing IPM (Integrated Pest Management) we first identify the severity of the infestation, as boxelder bugs do not cause damage to ornamentals or landscape plants but may become a nuisance if entering indoors.
What can I do to decrease boxelder presence on my property?
The best form of boxelder control is monitoring a habitat in which they thrive such as the boxelder, maple and ash tree. This may involve eliminating hiding places and debris and consider removing female box elder trees. Boxelder bugs are also susceptible to drowning, so washing boxelder bugs off walls or tree trunks with a forceful stream of water is appropriate.
